The cheapest Indian available in India so far was the Indian Chief Classic, for a price tag of Rs 26.5 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. At this astronomical pricing, it was limited to some elite few in the country.
What if I tell you that the now you can own an Indian Motorcycle that too from the new 2015 line-up for less than half of what the Chief costs? No I am not kidding! Out of nowhere, Indian Motorcycle informs us in an official release that they have introduced the Indian Scout in India today!
Scout, which was unveiled recently in the United States, has been launched in India at a price tag of just Rs 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). ‘Just’ is very much justified here considering other Indian Motorcycles prices.
Indian Scout Bookings:
The bike can be booked by contacting the Indian dealership in Gurgaon, with effect from today, however, when will the deliveries take place has not been mentioned yet.
The Indian Scout continues with the company’s attempt to mix the old charm with a blast of modernity to make a perfect bike! The amalgamation of the two worlds has resulted in possibly the best looking Indian Motorcycle ever and one of the most gorgeous premium cruisers in India.
Scout comes with an all-new and first ever liquid cooled engine (from Indian Motorcycles) developed specifically for this motorcycle. The 1131cc V-twin mill churns out a 100 horses and 97.7Nm of torque.
Scout was designed by the engineers of the Polaris owned brand by taking styling aspects of the 113 year Indian Motorcycle’s historic model with the modernity of today. The star of the Second World War, powering the Allied forces to their ultimate victory, gained even more name and fame thanks to Burt Munro’s superhuman effort of breaking the land speed record for a mile.
Even though the Scout has been priced in India at nearly double than what it costs in America, it still makes it a very interesting buy in this segment here. This also is a result of it being a CBU (Completely Built Unit).
Indian Scout Colors:
The most affordable Indian will be available in the following colors options:
- Thunder Black
- Indian Red
- Silver Smoke
- Thunder Black Smoke
Scout weighs 244 kg (dry), has a wheelbase of 1562 mm, a ground clearance of 135 mm, 31 degrees of lean and monotube rear shock absorbers. So, any of you Harley Davidson-ers getting Indian?
