Honda Whips Out Magic; Sells More than 4.5 lakh Units in July 2016

The Indian two-wheeler market is finally back in green and volumes are rising steadily. While most of the manufacturers have been scoring good numbers, Honda has been a name which has just surprised me with their persistence in growth. In fact, even when the industry was in a slow down, their numbers spelled a breath of hope. To make things even more great, the company has just recorded their best ever sales.

In the month of July 2016, the company saw sales of 4,53,844 units which is more than the 3,89,555 units seen in same month last year. That’s a growth rate of 16.5 per cent for Honda. Wondering how much the industry is growing at? 9 per cent! The company also managed to mark its highest ever exports in a single month with 24,317 units shipped.

The company’s market share too has reached its all time high of 29.1 per cent in India. The biggest portion of the sales were taken by automatic scooters (led by the Activa), by crossing the 3 lakh barrier for the first time. This is despite the fact that competition like Hero, Yamaha, Suzuki and TVS have been recording increasing sales in terms of automatic scooters. Honda’s consistency in the world of automatic scooters saw them sell 3,09,144 units in the month of July this year!
