Honda vs Hero sales 2024 – This has been a battle that has played fiercely in the last decade or so. But 2024-25 could be THE year of final transition…
Well, following Hero and Honda’s official split there were some brickbats that both the makers threw at each other. Honda was and is pretty clear – that it has to officially snatch the number one position in the Indian market from its earlier partner.
There have been a few instances earlier when Honda came precariously close to Hero and there were some months when it actually beat it. However, in eventual yearly sales Hero has been dominating for the last many years. But 2024-24 could be THE TRANSITION year, when Honda may finally and possibly permanently beat Hero in annual sales. Why am I saying this is because it is already happening. Check out the following numbers..
Honda vs Hero Sales 2024
June 2024
June 2023 | June 2024 | |
Hero MotoCorp | 4,22,757 | 4,91,416 |
Honda | 3,02,756 | 4,82,597 |
As you can see, from a big gap of over 1.20 Lac units last June, Honda closed it to just 8800 units (8819 to be precise) in June 2024. But this we have seen before, right? Here is the bigger picture..
Sales FY25 (April to June)
FY 2024 (Apr-Jun) | FY 2025 (Apr-Jun)
Hero MotoCorp | 13,17,250 | 14,84,162 |
Honda | 9,52,190 | 14,14,232 |
Now what do you see? Honda was 3.65 Lac units behind Hero last year in this first quarter of the fiscal. This gap has narrowed down to just 70,000 units! Wait, there is more..
Exports Apr-Jun
FY 2024 (Apr-Jun) | FY 2025 (Apr-Jun)
Hero MotoCorp | 35,324 | 50,992 |
Honda | 76,044 | 1,38,560 |
If we add up these export numbers to both the companies tallies, Honda is already running ahead of Hero in total sales for this financial year.
Honda CB300R vs CB300F – Which One Sells More?
The phenomenal growth in sales that Honda has achieved this year and all these numbers that I have listed above clearly suggest that this 2024-25 will be the year when the inevitable will happen – Honda will finally reach its dream of becoming the number one manufacturer in terms of sales. This is if Hero doesn’t come up with some out-of-the box sales numbers in the remaining part of this year or if Honda doesn’t do some goof-up in the coming months.
What impact will this have on the Indian 2-wheeler industry? How will Hero accept this – will it buckle up and go for the kill or will it accept the number two position in the Indian market quietly? Very interesting turn of events scheduled for this year, specially the festive season – which is on the anvil!
