Honda vs Bajaj Aug sales – With Hero massively ahead, it is getting interesting between these two arch rivals in motorcycle sales…
Few years back Bajaj Auto decided to focus completely on the motorcycle segment. This means that it currently is not even present in the 30-40 percent of the two-wheeler market which is captured by scooters and mopeds.
Despite being a number four in the overall sales rankings, Bajaj has traditionally been the second largest motorcycle seller, just under Hero MotoCorp in the domestic market. However, this year’s August has been surprising. Honda registered total sales of 1,79,086 units whereas Bajaj dispatched 1,78,028 of its motorcycles. In the process, Honda registered a sales gain of 25 percent whereas Bajaj’s numbers were better than last August by around 3 percent.
Honda vs Bajaj Aug Sales – Motorcycles
Aug 2019 | Aug 2020 | |
Honda | 1,42,588 units | 1,79,086 units |
Bajaj | 1,73,024 units | 1,78,028 units |
This infers that Honda, with its big leap, outsold Bajaj for the second spot in motorcycle sales – which is a big turnaround in the overall scheme of things. However, at 5,16,363 units, Bajaj still holds its ground in cumulative sales for this year. Honda, with 4,09,204 dispatches maintains its third position. Hero has been the magnanimous leader with total cumulative motorcycle sales of over 15 lakh units – three times more than both Bajaj and Honda.
