New Honda SP160 price is slightly higher than rivals FZ and P150. It sits between Unicorn & XBlade in Honda’s portfolio…
After teasing it on social media for the last many days, Honda has officially launched the new SP160 in the Indian market. The motorcycle follows the basic principles of the Unicorn, but is a little sportier than the big seller. It sits just under the XBlade which is still not OBD-2 compliant.

The SP160 gets a semi-aggressive headlamp design, slightly humped fuel tank and a little raised tail. The headlamp and tail lamp are LED units while the side blinkers come with conventional bulbs. At the rear, the SP160 gets a fatter 130 mm tyre. There is a digital instrument cluster that shows all the information like – clock, service due indication, side stand indication, fuel gauge. It also has a gear position indicator and displays information like average fuel economy, fuel consumption and average speed.
The motorcycle continues with Unicorn’s 160cc engine which comes with a compression ratio of 10:1. The OBD-2 compliant SP160 churns 9.9 kw (13.5 PS) of peak power at 7500 rpm and 14.58 Nm of max torque at 5500 rpm – same as Uni. For reference, the X-Blade produced higher 10.2 kw (13.87 PS) of power at 8000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at the same rpm.
The SP160 comes with petal discs and there is an optional rotor at the rear as well. There is a single channel ABS unit standard on the motorcycle.

As you can see, Honda is offering the SP160 in two variants – one with a single disc upfront (and rear drum) and the other with dual disc brakes (front + rear). It is Rs 7700 costlier than Unicorn and will be slightly cheaper than the XBlade once it gets the OBD-2 compliant model. It is also roughly Rs 1300 pricier than the base Yamaha FZ and Rs 745 higher than Pulsar P150 – two models it will rival. You can check out the rival Pulsar P150’s review below..
The SP160 is available in six colors – Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic , Matte Dark Blue Metallic , Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black and Pearl Deep Ground Gray.

Like its other models, Honda is offering a 10 year warranty package on the SP160 as well – of which 3 years is standard and you can extend it for another 7 years by paying extra. Unicorn is an excellent seller despite its age, do you think SP160 will replicate its success…?
