Upcoming model could be Honda SP160 that may sit between the Unicorn and XBlade in the 150-160cc segment in India…
Honda has teased a new motorcycle that, it says, is coming soon. We have also received a showcase invite where we will be able to check it out (but not ride it) on 3rd August in Gurgaon. This means that, whichever way Honda has planned it, the upcoming model should be launched in the first week of August.
The teaser partially reveals the rear portion of the motorcycle and while the side blinkers appear to be conventional bulb-type units with clear lens, possibly lifted from the SP125, the tail is an LED unit and completely different from any of the current models.
Here is the teaser..
Apart from this, there is not a lot that the teaser reveals and considering the information we have uptil now, this could be the heavily speculated SP160. According to reports, Honda is preparing a slightly-sportier-than-Unicorn 160cc motorcycle that can probably sit just under the XBlade. It could be called as SP160 and be priced just over the mass selling commuter (Unicorn).
EXCLUSIVE – Big Turnaround in 150-200cc Motorcycle Sales FY23
Launched in 2004, Unicorn is Honda’s oldest motorcycle in India. Even after almost two decades the workhorse is a favorite of thousands of buyers who take home one every month. Being one of the high selling 150-160cc models, Unicorn is known for its fuss-free, absolutely easy going behavior.
Honda intends to replicate its success with a model similar in traits but with just a wee bit of added sportiness. Which means the SP160 is likely to be based on the same platform and may carry the 162cc motor as well. What do you think – will such a motorcycle work…?
