Honda sales January 2022 – Numbers show sharp decline in gross sales, however, export figures have saved the day, upto an extent!
While achieving 2 lakh customers milestone in the Eastern State of India and gaining 1 Crore Shine 125 customers, Honda’s January sales might put a small dent in these celebrations.
The Gross sales of Honda two-wheelers saw a contraction of 18.98% in January 2022. Sales dropped from 4,37,183 units in January 2021 to 3,54,209 units in January of 2022.

Domestic –
The domestic sales of two-wheelers saw a decline of 24.36%, dropping to 3,15,196 units in January 2022 from 4,16,716 units in January 2021.
In contrast, when compared to 2,10,612 units sold in last month, there is a growth of 49.66% for this month.
Exports –
Fortunately for Honda, the export figures are all in green.
The YoY exports grew by 90.61%, jumping from 20,467 units in January 2021 to 39,013 units in 2022.
Similarly, the MoM exports expanded by an impressive 199.89%, up from last month’s 13,009 units.

This results in an overall growth of 58.40% in Gross sales when compared to December 2021.
Exports may have come as a savior for Honda, it is the domestic sales that are a concern for almost all the makers. Despite multiple attempts, Indian buyers are simply not picking up 2-wheelers from the markets.
