Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd has reached a new milestone of 20 million customers in India. The 20 millionth unit was rolled out last week. Honda’s stellar rise in the highly competitive Indian two-wheeler market has been primarily orchestrated by the Activa and CB Shine, both of which are the largest selling vehicles in their respective segments.
The company further claims to have reached a highest ever market share of 28.4 per cent and is growing at a rate of 23 per cent. The company believes that customer experience and loyalties are the pillars which have supported their growth and hope to continue to build on these two fronts to keep climbing the staircase of success.
The company has a very strong 55 per cent market share in the automatic scooter segment and to support this they are soon going to open their fourth plant in India at Vithalapur, in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. This new plant is scheduled to come up as the world’s biggest scooter manufacturing centre and will be spread over 80 acres. The plant will have an annual capacity of 1.2 million units which will pump up their total annual production capacity to 5.8 million units. The company plans to launch 7 all new products and a total of 15 products in 2015.
