EXCLUSIVE: Honda Patents HAWK 11 in India

Honda Hawk 11 launch in India possible in the coming months as it has been patented here. You are reading this first on BikeAdvice!

In the first half of 2022, Honda unveiled its new motorcycle Hawk 11 at the Osaka Motorcycle Show. Adorning a cafe racer body style, the Hawk 11 is here to fill the void left by the CB1100 roadster that has been discontinued by the brand.

And in a latest, we can exclusively tell you that, barely a few months later, the Jap has patented this cafe racer in India. This has been revealed by the design patent documents that we were casually browsing.

But what is HAWK 11..?

Hawk 11 is a big neo-retro cafe racer motorcycle that is based on the Africa Twin’s platform. It has a neat flowing body with many modern panels and a retro styled round headlamp, accentuated by a circular LED outline. The motorcycle that looks easy for the rider (as well as the pillion) continues with the same 1082cc twin cylinder engine that churns 102 PS of peak power at 7500 rpm and 104 Nm of max torque at 6250 rpm. Typical of cafe racers, it gets clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors.

The Hawk 11 is the third motorcycle that can come to India on the same platform. It must be noted that apart from the Africa Twin that is already sold in India, Honda reserved the NT1100 tourer for our market last year (it is yet to be launched though). Here are its patent filing details.

What is interesting to note is that the Hawk 11 is the most affordable motorcycle among the three that we mentioned. As far as we understand, the Hawk 11 has only been launched in Japan and it is listed at 13,97,000 Yen which roughly converts to 8.82 Lakh in INR.

In that market, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports is listed at 19,47,000 Yen to 20,57,000 Yen that equates to 12.30 Lakh to almost 13 Lakh in INR. For reference, the ADV is priced between 16.15 Lakh to 17.55 Lakh ex-showroom in India. Extrapolating a similar placement difference, the Hawk 11, if it is actually destined for our market, could be priced around Rs 11-12 Lakh here and that could be great news for some!
