Honda Activa EV will finally launch on Nov 27 in India and we have features, battery pack and range details of the e-scooter in this article
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced the launch of its first-ever EV on Nov 27, 2024 in the domestic market. The brand has released multiple teaser videos of the e-scooter, which is said to be the Activa EV. It is based on Honda’s global CUV-e electric scooter which was also showcased at the recently concluded EICMA 2024 in Italy. Interestingly, Honda has picked Bengaluru as the destination for the launch of Activa EV, where its battery-swapping subsidiary, the Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd, is headquartered.
Honda Activa EV Features
The various teaser videos have revealed that Honda Activa EV will get a plethora of bells and whistles in the form of a 7-inch fully-coloured TFT screen, Bluetooth Smartphone pairing, Navigation, Music controls, Multiple ride modes (Standard & Sport), Range indicator, Battery charge and power indicator. We also expect to see cruise control, reverse mode and CBS in the e-scooter.
Honda Activa EV Battery
The latest teaser from Honda gives a fair glimpse of Activa EV’s battery pack. It will house two swappable battery packs under the seat, similar to the CUV-e scooter. Honda’s global EV models are already available with the same removable batteries and it was expected that the India-spec e-scooter from the brand will also be introduced with an identical setup. However, exact battery capacity and other specs are not in public domain yet.
The teaser released by Honda shows batteries moving out of a charging dock at a battery swapping station and being put into the boot of the scooter where we see one battery already placed there. The detachable batteries are way more convenient than the conventional fixed battery packs as they can be charged anywhere – be it home, office or a battery swapping station.
Honda Activa EV Range and Top Speed
Honda CUV-e comes with two battery packs of 1.3 kWh in global markets. It has a claimed range of 70+ km on a single charge. However, as far as India-spec Activa EV is concerned, it could come with a range of 104 km in Standard mode as revealed by one of the official teasers. The CUV-e belts out peak power of 8 bhp with a top speed of 80kmph. The India-bound Activa EV could also get similar power output and top speed.
Honda Activa EV Price in India
Honda Activa EV price could start from Rs 80,000 and go as high as Rs 1.10 lakh for the top-end variant. It will take on the likes of Ola S1, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Vida V1 and Ather 450 in the Indian market.
Honda Activa EV Launch Date and Bookings
The Activa EV will be unveiled on Nov 27, 2024 in India. The bookings could start on the same day while price announcement is expected to take place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. The deliveries could start in a phase-wise manner from Feb 2025 in the Indian market.
