The Japanese brand has finally unveiled the Activa EV in India while releasing the battery, range and feature details of the electric scooter
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has finally unveiled its first-ever EV in the form of the Activa e: in the country. The company will start official bookings from Jan 1, 2025 while first deliveries are promised in Feb 2025. Honda Activa e: is offered in two variants namely ACTIVA e: and ACTIVA e: Honda RoadSync Duo in the Indian market. It will directly rival Ola S1, Bajaj Chetak EV, TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 and Ather Rizta in India. The price announcement is expected to take place at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Jan 2025.
The Activa e: retains the basic styling of the Activa ICE such as the all-LED headlamp and tail-lamp alongside the smiling DRLs. The electric scooter rides on 12-inch diamond cut alloy wheels while boasting of premium features such as dual-tone seat, flat footboard and a sturdy grab rail. It is presented in five color choices namely Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Misty White, Pearl Serenity Blue, Matt Foggy Silver Metallic and Pearl Igneous Black.
Honda technological prowess is second to none and the same is evident in the Activa e: with features like a 7-inch colour TFT screen, navigation, Honda RoadSync Duo app connectivity etc to name a few. It also gets day and night modes to adjust the brightness and readability of the screen automatically as per ambient light. The rider can control the TFT screen with the toggle switches, which are placed on the handlebar.
A special mention goes to the Honda’s H-Smart key feature, which we have already seen on the petrol-powered Activa. It provides a lot of convenience to the riders by offering Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock and Smart Start. The Activa e: is presented with three riding modes namely Econ, Standard & Sport. Honda Activa e: will be available with 3 years or 50,000 km warranty along with three free services and roadside assistance for the first year.
Honda Activa e: has been introduced with swappable battery technology. It is powered by two portable battery packs of 1.5 kWh, termed as Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, which are developed by Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt. Ltd. in India. Honda claims a range of 102 km on a single charge for the Activa e:, based on its internal testing results. The detachable battery packs can be exchanged at Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: (BeX swapping stations) which have already been setup in Bengaluru and Delhi, while Mumbai will see one soon.
The dual 1.5 kWh removable battery packs are linked to an advanced in-house developed permanent magnet synchronous electric motor which belts out top power of 8 bhp and peak torque of 22 Nm. The 0-60kmph sprint time is tipped at 7.3 secs with a top speed of 80kmph. Honda Activa e: will be retailed through the brand’s existing selected dealer network initially in three cities namely Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The Activa e: is locally manufactured at Honda’s Narsapura factory near Bengaluru in Karnataka.
