HMSI Launches CBR150R at Rs.1.16 lakhs

Finally the wait for Honda CBR150R is over now. HMSI has launched this motorcycle and it is ready to hit the Indian roads by the end of March 2012. As promised in Auto Expo 2012, the company has launched this motorcycle at a price of Rs. 1,16,385  (standard variant) Ex-showroom Delhi, which is below Rs. 1.20 lakhs. The company has launched two variants standard and deluxe. The deluxe variant will cost just Rs. 1,000 more compared to standard variant.

The Standard variant will be available in Black with Pearl Sunbeam White and Sports Red with Pearl Sunbeam White while the Deluxe variant will be available in Black with Candy Palm Green and Vibrant Orange with Pearl Sunbeam White. HMSI has already started booking for CBR150R and will roll out the first batch of around 750 units from their Manesar plant by the end of March 2012.

Honda CBR150R is nothing but a downsized version of CBR250R. It has the same styling and features as seen on Honda CBR250R. The engine, chassis and body are designed on the same platform. The engine is capable of generating maximum power of 17.6 bhp @ 10,500 rpm and 12.66 Nm @ 8,500 rpm. However due to 150cc engine it is expected to deliver better mileage, something for which every Indian is conscious now due to burgeoning fuel prices.

Honda CBR150 is expected to give tough competition to Yamaha YZF R-15 and KTM Duke 200. It may also give tough competition to Hero Karizma ZMR considering its price. With the launch of CBR150R we may see some cannibalization of sales between Honda CBR150R and CBR250R as there is visually no difference and the former offers better fuel efficiency.
