Hero Xpulse 421 is the company’s biggest and most ambitious project till date as it marks the debut of an all-new 421cc liquid-cooled engine
Hero Xpulse 421 has once again been spied testing in Ladakh ahead of its official debut at the EICMA 2026 in Italy later this year. However, unlike previous instances, this time around the upcoming Hero adventure bike has been captured up close on camera, giving a clear look at the features and other cycle parts. Though the test mule of the Xpulse 421 was wearing heavy camouflage, we can still confirm that it is a purpose-built adventure tourer with decent ground clearance. It will be up against the likes of KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and BMW F 450 GS.
Some of the notable elements seen in the spy images are wire-spoke wheels, upright stance, massive windscreen, long-travel suspension setup, and huge fuel tank. Likely to be underpinned by a steel trellis frame, it flaunts a high-mounted LED headlight in the front fairing. Ross Branch and Nacho Corenjo from Hero Motorsports team were seen testing the Xpulse 421 a few days back during its high-altitude cold-weather testing in Ladakh.
The previous videos and images revealed that the exhaust note of the Xpulse 421 is going to be way more roaring and compelling than the smaller Xpulse 210s. It will come with USD front forks with long-travel and rear monoshock absorber. While the front suspension could get compression and rebound, the rear one might boast of preload adjustability.

The adventure bike is expected to ride on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels which will be fitted with dual-purpose tyres. Needless to mention, Hero Xpulse 421 will be equipped with a plethora of modern bells and whistles in the form of ride modes, cruise control, traction control, all-digital instrument console with TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity, and switchable ABS among others.
Mechanically, as the spy pics show, the Xpulse 421 will debut an all-new 421cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine in the Indian market. The power and torque figures are not in public domain yet. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed transmission while a quickshifter will also be offered as standard feature on the higher variants. The stopping power could come from a front disc brake with radially mounted calipers and a single disc unit at the rear.

It has been learnt that the upcoming Hero adventure bike is in advanced stages of testing and hence, the local production in India is expected to kick off by the end of 2026. The project development has taken place at the Centre for Innovation & Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. Though Hero has remained extremely tightlipped, we are optimistic for a market launch in India in the Q4 FY27 (Jan-Mar 2027).
