Barring Ola Electric, every other major electric two-wheeler brand such as TVS, Bajaj and Hero Vida registered positive YoY growth in August 2026
The electric two-wheeler sales in August 2026 was recorded at 1.83 lakh units which included scooters, mopeds and motorcycles. Despite being the third highest monthly sales this year, it declined by 11 percent on a MoM basis as 205,629 electric two-wheelers were sold in July 2026. However, if we compare the last month e2w numbers with Aug 2025 (1.10 lakh units), it posted a YoY growth of 67 percent. TVS Motor Company continued as the leading electric two-wheeler brand with retail volumes of 48,873 units and 91 percent YoY growth. However, the MoM sales was down by 12 percent as the brand had sold 55,823 units in July 2026. The e2w market share of TVS also improved by four points and reached 27 percent as compared to 23 percent a year back during the same month.
Bajaj Auto continued to play second fiddle to TVS as it registered sales of 41,019 units in August 2026. It posted a flabbergasting YoY growth of 235 percent as 12,246 units were sold in August 2025. It became the second company after TVS to sell more than 3 lakh electric scooters in the first eight months of CY 2026. For those asking, Bajaj Auto had sold 279,687 units in the whole of CY 2025.

Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp (Vida) retained their third and fourth positions with sales of 28,708 units and 18,978 units, respectively, in Aug 2026. Both the brands registered a healthy double-digit YoY growth last month as their market share in the electric two-wheeler segment also touched double-digits, i.e. Ather Energy (16%) and Hero MotoCorp (10%).
Ola Electric was the only leading player to witness a decline in YoY sales (29%) as volumes slid down to 13,849 units in Aug 2026 from 19,464 units in Aug 2025. The market share also fell in single-digit (8%) in Aug 2026 from double-digits (18%) in Aug 2025. The sixth position was occupied by Greaves Electric Mobility (Ampere) with 8,612 units and 89 percent YoY growth.
River Mobility continued to grow at an unprecedented pace as it sold 5,134 units in August 2026 to post 170 percent YoY growth (August 2025: 1,903 units). BGauss Auto, Simple Energy and Motovolt Mobility could make it to the list of top 10 electric two-wheeler brands in Aug 2026 with retail volumes of 4,844 units, 1,635 units and 1,365 units, respectively, in the Indian market.
