Hero Motocorp is on a lineup realigning phase. They have discontinued six to eight products from the lineup including Xtreme, Hunk, few Splendor and Passion variants etc. Hero has already announced that the company will launch six new models this year with a focus on scooters and premium motorcycles.
In a build up to the same strategy, one senior Hero official revealed to Economic Times that two (out of these six models) will be launched by the festival season ie around or before September this year. He elaborated that these will be followed by an all-new 200 cc motorcycle which we believe is the Xtreme 200S which was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. However, he did not share specifics of the two products which are slated to be launched.
The sad part is that there is no word on the most awaited HX 250R yet from the company and going by Hero’s intents I am doubtful if they have any plans to introduce it even this year.
On the other hand, Honda is going all guns blazing and is closing in on Hero’s market share. It will be worth a wait to witness how will the coming months pan out from both these arch-rivals.
