Hero sells 5.58 lakh two-wheelers last month – yes, that’s not a typo!

Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (HMCL), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer (as per sales volumes), sold 5,58,609 two-wheelers last month. Yes, that’s not a typo; the company did sell more than 5.5 lakh units in a month! That figure means a growth of 21 per cent over August 2013 where the company had sold 4,59,996 two-wheelers.

Hero claims that while its Splendor iSmart continues to push volumes for the company, even the recent launches, including the new Karizma, ZMR, Xtreme, Passion Pro TR and the new Pleasure, have received tremendous response from the customers. With the festive season around the corner Hero is determined to keep the momentum strong and plans to launch 10 new two-wheelers during this period.

Hero-Splendor-Pro-Classic

The first one, the Splendor Pro Classic, was launched recently by the company quietly and while the press release states that those ten launches would comprise ‘upgrades, refreshes, and new models’ we would just hope that one of those ‘new models’ happens to be the HX 250R sportbike. Heck, we won’t even complain if that is the only ‘new’ model and the rest turn out to be just cosmetic jobs – please Hero, you can make this Diwali a lot brighter for your fans!

The next most important launch from Hero would be the 15.2 bhp-producing Xtreme Sports. This 150 cc motorcycle will compete head on with the new fuel-injected FZs and also with the recently launched Suzuki Gixxer 155. Plus, if Hero really brings in the HX 250R next month, with the KTM RCs already around as well, this festive season might just turn out to be the best one yet for the biking enthusiasts in India!
