Suzuki has just launched the Gixxer 155 in India at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom, Delhi) keeping the price much lower than Yamaha’s new FZ V2s which retail for Rs 76,250 and Rs 78,250 for FZ FI v2 and FZ-S FI V2 respectively, ex-showroom Delhi. Heck, the Gixxer is even a shade cheaper than the old FZ which sells for INR 72,385 in Delhi (ex-showroom)!
As we had told our readers earlier, the Gixxer 155 sports a 154.9 cc SOHC air-cooled engine that produces 14.8 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The manufacturer claims a class-best fuel efficiency figure of 63.5 kmpl! Now even if the bike returns 50km to a litre, this Gixxer will have all the other 150cc bikes a lot lot worried…
This Suzuki will complete primarily in the premium 150cc segment against Yamaha’s FZ series while also encompassing the likes of Honda CB Trigger, Hero Xtreme, TVS Apache RTR 160 etc.
Gixxer Color Options:
The Gixxer 155 is being offered in…
- Metallic Oort Grey
- Candy Antares Red
- Glass Sparkle Black
- Metallic Triton Blue
- Pearl Mirage White
Okay, just to summarize, the bike basically comes in five colors to choose from – White, Black, Blue, Grey, and Red. It is easier this way, right?
Gixxer gets a 5-speed gearbox (looses one cog in comparison with sibling GS150R) and the fueling duties are performed by a carburetor. Like FZ, Gixxer also gets a fat 140/60 rear and 100/80 front tyres, both 17 inchers. At 135kgs, it also has a pretty impressive power to weight ratio and should be a ‘fun’ to ride bike. It gets a 12 liters fuel tank and has a ground clearance of 160mm and a seat height of 780mm.
We’ll be bringing a road test review of Gixxer soon…keep tuned!
