Hero sales January 2022 – Numbers follow the generic falling trend. But scooters have slowly become a big worrying point for the company…
Sales figures of Hero MotoCorp are in and it appears that it is not a good beginning of the year for them.
Hero MotoCorp have achieved gross sales of 3,80,476 units in the month of January 2022. These numbers are down by very significant 21.69% compared to 4,85,889 units sold in January 2021.
Hero MotoCorp have explained that the fear and anticipation of the third wave of pandemic which led to subsequent staggered state-wise lockdowns and restricted movement have impacted their overall sales in the month.

Motorcycles –
The motorcycle sales declined to 3,57,845 units in January 2022 when compared to 4,49,037 units registered in January of 2021. It is a dip of 20.21% year-over-year (YoY).
Month-over-month (MoM), the trend is the same. The motorcycle sales dropped by 5.05% from 3,76,862 units sold in December 2021.
Looking at the Year-to-date (YTD) numbers, it dropped by 11.08%, dipping to 38,63,590 units for FY22 from 43,45,126 units in FY21.
Scooters –
Scooter sales have shown a mixed trend.
YoY, the scooter sales have dipped a significant 38.59%. It dropped to 22,631 units in January 2022 from 36,852 units in January 2021.
While comparing with previous month, sales increased by a good 26.35%, increasing from 17,911 units sold in December 2021.
Considering the YTD sales, the scooter sales saw a massive drop of 25.23%. It fell from 3,63,988 units sold in FY21 to 2,72,152 units sold in FY22.
Domestic and Export Sales –
The domestic and exports sales showed contrasting results. While the domestic sales dropped a significant 23.33% YoY, exports jumped 20.44%.
MoM sales showed the same trend. The domestic sales contracted by 4.23% while exports expanded by 7.53%.

Continuing the contrasting trend are the YTD figures. Comparing FY21 with FY22, the domestic sales dropped by 14.76% while the exports jumped by a whopping 73.56%.
Aside this, Hero has started accepting bookings for their second batch of Xpulse 200 4V motorcycle which has received a hike of Rs 2000/- in its price.
