SHOCKER 2: Hero Unveils 150cc Turbocharged DIESEL Bike [Updated with Official Specs & Details]

Apart from the 31PS HX250R, Hero has also unveiled their 150cc diesel engine. No, we did not mis-spell it! They have introduced a new bike concept called as Hero RNT which is powered by a 150cc TDI diesel motor which produces some real shattering torque figures.

Here are all the details of Hero RNT:

  • Liquid Cooled
  • Turbo charged
  • 4 stroke Diesel Engine
  • 13.5hp of power @ 4000 rpm
  • 35Nm of whooping torque at 1600 rpm
  • 2-wheel Drive

It carries detachable headlamps that can act as a torch and it carries a power outlet. The interesting diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Front and rear tyres are respectively 120/70 and 150/60, both 17 inchers. It gets hydraulic brakes, 300mm at the front and 220mm at the rear.

Hero RNT has a top speed of only 70kmph but it can accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in mere 5 seconds. It is 2029 in length, 739 in width and 1077mm in height, has a ground clearance of 168mm and kerb weight of 136kgs.

The most interesting bit is RNT’s 2 Wheel Drive which has an optional electric front hub motor which can provide upto 1.4PS of power to the front wheels. This is controllable using a secondary throttle and works independently as well as with the regular chain drive.

Though the design of the motorcycle is not really very pleasing but as a concept, RNT is really a breakthrough product!

This is the most emphatic and surprising news bit that is coming to us for the last many years from Hero. It seems they have woken up to something real grand and this is a fitting reply to all of those who have written Hero off the tarmac ever since their split with Honda.

We are waiting for this concept to turn into a production motorcycle soon.
