The coming 2-3 years will be the most important for Hero MotoCorp as a manufacturer and will define how will the company’s future pan out…
They have split with Honda and the Jap no more provides them with the technical expertise, however, they (Hero) can still use their engines (I guess till 2017). But, its obvious that Hero will have to work on its own technical expertise and engine set to continue the dominance they enjoy in the market and they have to be real competitive as well.
Hero showcased a lot of products before and around the Auto Expo in 2014, some of them ground-breaking, and after a few of them have made it to showrooms, the remaining have started to come on the roads for testing. After the new Passion, we have a couple of spy pics of their upgraded Dawn and new 110cc scooter Dash which is hidden by a thick cloth.
We are not sure what is Hero testing on the Dawn – if it is an upgrade to the existing engine or its their own motor. The HF Dawn is their basic entry level motorcycle which currently uses Honda’s 97.2cc engine producing 8.36 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
We are sure there will be something technical which is on test here, they will not be testing the motorcycle for mere sticker jobs.
These spy pictures from Gaadiwaadi.com showcase the Dawn incorporating a black chain guard and suspension housing. The chrome grab rail also gets a black treatment.
The Dash on the other hand is seen for the first time with a pillion rider. Targeting the likes of the Honda Activa, it shall be using a 110cc engine churning out 8.4bhp of power and 9.4Nm of torque, according to the specs Hero shared during its unveiling.
