The Sprint 440 will be the third model in the 350-450cc segment from the American brand as it join the likes of X440 and X440 T
Harley-Davidson has announced a new entry-level cruiser motorcycle in the form of the ‘Sprint 440’ as part of its Back to Bricks initiative. Based on the same 440cc engine platform, the upcoming cruiser from the American brand will join the likes of X440 and X440 T in the Indian market. Both these roadster models, developed in partnership with India-based Hero MotoCorp, are quite popular in the 350-450cc segment of bikes while registering decent sales volumes. The Sprint 440 will have its global debut in the coming months in India.
Harley-Davidson is hugely popular across the globe for its cruiser range of motorcycles, which includes Softail, Touring, Sportster and Fat Boy. These models have resonated quite well with the lifestyle and community culture of the motorcycling fraternity while maintaining the brand’s image over the last several years. Hence, it is eager to roll out a new entry-level cruiser bike.
The first sketch of the Sprint 440 has been released by the company, which shows the overall design to be similar to Harley’s big-capacity cruiser motorcycles. We can see a round headlamp, broader handlebars, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat exhaust system and a stepped up seat. The main frame of the Sprint 400 appears to be the same as the X440 in the design sketch.

The alloy wheels in the design sketch also seem to have been borrowed from the X440. It could be offered with a 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheel setup as there is a noticeable size difference in the front and rear units in the sketch released by Harley-Davidson. The smaller rear wheel with a scooped seat for the rider could result in a lower saddle height as compared to the X440 which comes with a seat height of 805 mm.
Despite sharing the chassis with X440, Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 will get a different rear sub-frame. The front fork angle will also a lot more wider in order to offer relaxed riding position. Though it has not been confirmed yet, we strongly believe that the Sprint 440 will share several cycle parts with the X440 twins for reduced production costs.

At the heart, Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 will house the existing 440cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine which generates max power of 27 bhp and highest torque of 38 Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. A few notable features onboard could include dual-channel ABS, ride modes, cruise control, traction control and 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
