Harley-Davidson LiveWire Unveils ‘Arrow’ – New Electric Bikes Announced

Harley Davidson Arrow will be a new platform under the company’s LiveWire brand. Three new bikes have been confirmed…

Last month Harley-Davidson addressed their investors and shared their plans for the future. And at this event the America brand introduced their new EV platform which is called as ‘Arrow’ and it will be developed under the electric division LiveWire.

In addition to this, it was also announced that Taiwanese firm Kymco will be investing nearly Rs. 750 crore in the LiveWire division of H-D as part of their new deal.

Harley Davidson Arrow EV Platform:

The main highlight of the Arrow EV platform is that the large structural Lithium-ion battery pack will be the active member of the complete chassis set-up.

The unique chassis configuration will consist of the power electronics, steering headstock, suspension (both front and rear) and the electric motor all bolted directly to the battery pack.

The battery pack will have 21,700 high-volume cells which can be cooled by either liquid, air or through a refrigerant based on the requirement. The voltage utilised can be as low as 50 V or as high as 400 V.

The cooling system equipped in the chassis will be further utilised by the on-board charger, inverter and even the electric motor. This will enable LiveWire to make the chassis compact and fully optimise the space available in their new platform.

H-D claims that the electric motor has increased power density in comparison to their LiveWire One electric bike. This has been achieved by the use of their new proprietary magnetics and a direct-drive design.

The first bike that will use this new Arrow platform will bear the codename S2 and will be called ‘Del Mar’ and will be launched in the middleweight segment.
