Freedom CNG deliveries have started and bookings can be made all across India. I discuss the details of how Bajaj intends to distribute it…
There is no denying the fact that the world’s first CNG motorcycle – Bajaj Freedom has managed to create quite a stir in the Indian market. Targeted towards the commuter customer, Freedom CNG promises reduction in running costs by almost half of an equivalent 100-125cc motorcycle. I have discussed this through an example here.
Now, shortly after its launch on the 5th of July, Bajaj has commenced deliveries of the motorcycle. The first Freedom CNG was delivered to one Pravin Thorat in Pune. Bajaj also informs that it has received more than 30,000 inquiries of Freedom CNG in this short span of time. As was revealed during launch, Bajaj intends to take the Freedom to different states in batches.
The first two states to receive the motorcycle are Maharashtra and Gujarat – primarily because Maharashtra is Bajaj’s home state and Gujarat is the nearest to ship – and both of them have fairly good CNG stations availability. Next Bajaj will take the Freedom to the NCR region – which will be followed by Uttar Pradesh – and then to other states gradually.

Initially, Bajaj wants all customers to bring Freedoms for servicing or other issues to the company’s dealerships so that it can know about the initial problems and work on them. And training for the CNG motorcycle has been given to its service folks. Sometime later, Bajaj will also provide service to non-linked mechanics so that the motorcycle can be serviced outside of the company network as well.
Bookings of the Freedom CNG are open across the nation and the motorcycle is available between prices of Rs 95,000 to Rs 1,10,000 in three variants. Initially, the higher trims will be manufactured and deliveries of the entry variant will take place sometime later. I have discussed the differences in all the three variants in the following quick video.
