The Z900, which was unveiled at EICMA 2016, is the second naked motorcycle which Kawasaki promised for Intermot. This one too is a replacement of an existing model – the Z800! Designed using the Sugomi philosophy, the Z900 mixes form and beauty with practicality and perfection.
Launched – Z900 Price in Indonesia
Couple of days back, Z900 has been launched in Indonesia and it will be a replacement of the Z800. It has been priced at IDR 225,000,000 (~ 11.24 Lakh INR) which is 13,000,000 IDR (~ 65,000 INR) more than the price of Z800. For reference, the Z1000 there costs IDR 329,000,000 (~16.43 Lakhs INR).
The Z800 is a wonderful motorcycle; especially at the price point at which it is available in India. However, I am yet to meet a motorcyclist who would say no to more grunt. The Z900 is just that. Powering the bike is a 948 cc in-line four cylinder liquid cooled mill whose lineage can be extrapolated to the gorgeous Z1000.
It churns out 125 PS of peak power at 9500 rpm and 98.6 Nm of max torque at 7700 rpm. In comparison, the current Z800 produces 113 PS of power and 83 Nm of torque. According to the official power/torque graph, Z900 produces higher torque and power at all rpms as compared to Z800 and has a similar curve.
Z900 gets an assist and slipper clutch, rev adjustable gear shift indicator and a tachometer that offers three selectable display modes are matched in style terms by the Z-shaped LED tail light and lightweight star pattern 5-spoke wheels.
It also comes with an all-new lightweight tube trellis frame with an aluminium swingarm. The Z900’s first 5 gears are shorter, while the 6th gear is an overdrive. The headlamp is just second to Z1000 in terms of aggression.
The bike weighs 210.5 kg and has a saddle height of 795 mm. Braking duties are administered by bigger 300 mm front dual discs with Nissin four-piston calipers and a single 250 mm petal rotor at the rear. ABS too is available. Front suspension gets 41 mm upside-down front forks with adjustable rebound and preload. The rear also gets the same level of adjustability.
Z900 Launch India & Price
Internationally, Z900 is a replacement of Z800 and since it has been introduced in Indonesia, Kawasaki will, most probably, launch the Z900 in India sometime this year. However, an official word/concrete bit on this is awaited.
In USA, the difference in the prices of Z900 and Z800 ABS versions is $400 which is about 27,000 in INR. We expect a similar revision to the mid-cap Z when it arrives here.
