Dare 125 & Maestro Edge 125 price should only be Rs 2000-3000 more than the existing models…
Hero needs a re-conditioning of the logic of “concepts“; they are being too frequent with quashing them! They showcased a 125 cc scooter by the name Dare back at the 2014 Auto Expo. They went onto release its official specs along with all the features it will come equipped with. Fast forward to 2018 and they are indeed venturing into the 125 cc segment with, wait a minute…. the same Maestro Edge and Duet!
Yes, at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo, Hero has unveiled its first 125 cc scooters which will finally go to production sometime this year – and they are just the upgraded versions of the same Maestro Edge and Duet. In short – Hero has taken over a 125 cc engine (which we believe is again a rebored version of the same 110 cc motor which does duty on the existing Maestro Edge/Duet; confirmation pending) and plonked it on the exact same body!
There is nothing wrong with that but we only have one question – what was Dare showcased for, when your eventual product does not take even an iota of its design!
Anyway, the 125 cc motor produces 8.7 bhp of peak power at 6750 rpm (down from 9.5 PS of Dare) and 10.2 Nm of maximum torque at 5000 rpm (up from 9.8 Nm of Dare). Here are the features these scooters will come equipped with…
- Both of them will come with Hero’s i3S technology (idle stop start system) – which is a first for the scooter segment.
- Integrated Braking System and optional front disc brake.
- Diamond cut cast wheels
- External fuel filling, remote key opening, mobile charging point and boot lamp.
- Side stand indicator, service due reminder.
Maestro Edge 125 will be offered in four matt colours – Matt Techno Blue, Matt Red, Matt Brown, Matt Vernier Grey. On the other hand the Duet 125 gets Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, Noble Red and Pearl Silver.
Dare 125 & Maestro Edge 125 Price
|Maestro Edge 110||Rs 49,900 – 50,900|
|Duet 110||Rs 47,250 – 48,900|
|Maestro Edge 125*||Rs 52,000 – 54,000|
|Duet 125*||Rs 50,000 – 52,000|
*expected prices of these models
Both Maestro Edge 125 and Duet 125 will be launched within this year at prices which should not exceed Rs 2000-3000 over the existing range, since there is nothing new on offer and for slight more power, you can not charge a lot of premium over your current set benchmark! But this way Hero can have one of the most affordable 125 cc scooters in the market.
