Hero to Launch its Activa 125 Rivals Soon But There is a Twist….

Duet 125 is no more Duet – Hero has coined a new name – Destini. Destini & Maestro Edge 125 price should only be Rs 2000-3000 more than the existing 100cc models…

Hero showcased a 125 cc scooter by the name ‘Dare’ back at the 2014 Auto Expo. They went onto release its official specs along with all the features it was to come equipped with. Four years later, they are indeed venturing into the 125 cc scooter segment with, wait a minute…. the same Maestro Edge and Duet (which gets a new name), yes forget Dare!

At the 2018 Auto Expo, Hero unveiled its first 125 cc scooters which will finally go to production – and they are just the upgraded versions of the same 110cc Maestro Edge and Duet. In a minor twist, however, it has been revealed that Hero has renamed the 125cc Duet as Destini for reasons not known – probably because the brand Duet was not doing expected business.

According to the spy pics shared on this page credit Gaadiwaadi, Maestro Edge continues to adorn the same name.

The 125 cc motor that both the scoots will come equipped with, produces 8.7 bhp of peak power at 6750 rpm (down from 9.5 PS of Dare) and 10.2 Nm of maximum torque at 5000 rpm (up from 9.8 Nm of Dare). Here are the features these scooters will come equipped with…

  • Both of them will get Hero’s i3S technology (idle stop start system) – which is a first for the scooter segment.
  • Integrated Braking System and optional front disc brake.
  • Diamond cut cast wheels
  • External fuel filling, remote key opening, mobile charging point and boot lamp.
  • Side stand indicator, service due reminder.
It was showcased under the Duet banner at the Auto Expo

Maestro Edge 125 will be offered in four matt colours – Matt Techno Blue, Matt Red, Matt Brown, Matt Vernier Grey. On the other hand, if there is no other change, Destini 125 will get Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, Noble Red and Pearl Silver.

Destini 125 & Maestro Edge 125 Price (Expected)

Maestro Edge 110 Rs 49,900 – 51,300
Duet 110 Rs 47,250 – 48,900
Maestro Edge 125* Rs 52,000 – 54,000
Destini 125* Rs 50,000 – 52,000

Dare 125 of the 2014 Auto Expo

These pics appear to be from some event, probably including dealerships. Launch of both Maestro Edge 125 and Destini 125 is expected to be very soon – withing the coming few week.

As we have mentioned above, we do not expect their prices to exceed Rs 2000-3000 over the existing range, since there is nothing new on offer and for slight more power, you can not charge a lot of premium over your current set benchmark! But this way Hero can have the most affordable 125 cc scooters in the market (excluding Gusto 125 which doesn’t sell much anyway). Most of the others start from 56k-58k levels.
