Ducati Monster 795 which was displayed in Auto Expo 2012, is launched in the Philippines market according to news reported by Business Mirror. Ducati Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Ducati motorcycles in Philippines recently unveiled this motorcycle at a price of Philippines Peso 570,000 (Rs. 6,55,000). Monster 795 which is specifically designed for Asian market and hopes to give tougher competition to existing 600cc motorcycles in Philippines market.
The Monster 795 is an affordable naked sport motorcycle from Ducati to Asian market. Monster 795 has a chassis of Monster 696 and engine of Monster 796. It comes with L-twin two valves per cylinder, air cooled, 803cc engine which generates maximum power of 87 bhp @ 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 78Nm @ 6,250 rpm. It has Tubular steel Trellis frame which makes it very light weight. It’s dry weight is just 167 Kg.
Commenting on launch, Mirko Bordiga, chief executive officer of Ducati Asia Pacific said, “Due to the growth of the Asian market, Ducati decided to make a big investment with the Thailand assembly plant mainly to fulfill the needs of Asian clients. The strategic location chosen to assemble Ducati motorcycles in Thailand enabled us to favorably comply with local import tax requirements. The result is not a cheaper bike, but a pure Ducati DNA motorcycle—fully designed and engineered in Italy with fewer duties of taxes.”
Ducati Monster 795 is specifically designed for Asian market and currently it is assembled at Thailand. It is currently available in China, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore. In India it is sold at a price of Ex-showroom Rs. 5.99 lakhs. It seems that Ducati is aggressive in getting pie of 650cc motorcycle segment which is seeing rapid growth in Asian market. We hope to see some more affordable models from Ducati in upcoming days.
