Ducati Hypermotard 698 price is even more than its elder sibling. The 659cc engine is the most powerful single cylinder engine in the world…
When costly makers make single cylinder engine motorcycles, customers simply expect better prices for eventual products. In a similar bid, Italian manufacturer recently worked on a single cylinder engine which it plonked on an interesting motorcycle.
We are talking about the 659cc, big single cylinder engine that Ducati carved out of the 1258cc motor of the Panigale 1299. It churns 77.5 hp of peak power at 9750 rpm and 63 Nm of max torque at 8000 rpm. There is abundant torque available right from 3000 rpm till about the redline.
Next comes the motorcycle – the Hypermotard 698, that becomes the first model to receive this engine. Weighing in at 151 kg dry, the prospects look super awesome. Single cylinder, great specs, lovely machine, typical Italian flavor – the next thing we were dreaming of was its Indian launch – which has just been announced by Ducati!

So, shall we just go ahead and flock company’s showrooms? Well, let me break it for you. The motorcycle can be yours in India officially but for that you will have to shell out a whopping amount of Rs 16.50 Lakh ex-showroom India. No, that’s not a typo! The single cylinder Hypermotard 698 is even costlier than its bigger sibling Hypermotard 950!
Why has it been priced that atrociously is not known but if that was supposed to be the landing price of the motorcycle – it would have been better for Ducati to not launch it at all!
