DSK Benelli, after registering deliveries of 100 motorcycles in Bangalore, has achieved a similar feat in Pune. This is the second fastest sale by a superbike maker in India. The company made its entry to India only this year and since then it has been making constant rounds to the hall of records.
To celebrate the achivement, DSK organized an event in Pune which saw Mr. Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Motowheels hand over keys to the owner of the 100th DSK Benelli bike sold in Pune. This was followed by a ride to Lonavala with all the Benelli owners in the city.
A Brief History
While the Benelli brothers started their garage back in 1911, their first recorded motorcycle came out only in 1921. Called as the Velomotore, it featured a single cylinder two stroke mill attached to a bicycle frame! This was followed by the 98 cc Motoleggera in 1922. Their first proper motorcycle came out much later and was a 175 cc model and achieved immediate success in the world of racing.
This was followed by a long list of glorious moments, with more than 1,000 victories in the Italian and European Championships and two World Titles won in 1950 and 1969. After a string of ownership changes the Benelli group is now under the guardianship of the Qianjiang Group, a corporation which produces more than 1.2 million two wheelers every year.
DSK is going strong with Benelli and have some real interesting motorcycles lined up for launch in India this year, including a 250cc single cylinder TNT 25!
