The Classic 650 is the heaviest model in Royal Enfield’s portfolio as it tips the scale at 243 kg
Royal Enfield has confirmed the launch of the Classic 650 Twin in January 2025 in the Indian market. The all-new 650cc motorcycle made its global debut at the EICMA 2024 in Italy while it was also showcased at the recently concluded Motoverse 2024 in Goa. Being the brand’s sixth model in the 650cc segment of motorcycles after the Interceptor, Continental GT, Super Meteor, Shotgun and Bear, Royal Enfield Classic 650 bookings will start in the next few days in India. Just so you know, the company unveiled two more motorcycles at the Motoverse 2024 in the form of Goan Classic 350 and Scram 440.
Royal Enfield Classic 650 borrows multiple elements from the Shotgun 650 such as the frame, swingarm, sub-frame and more. However, the styling is entirely different and based on Royal Enfield’s best-selling motorcycle, the Classic 350. It is offered in four mono-tone paint schemes namely Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Teal and Black Chrome.
The Classic 650 flaunts a circular LED headlamp with a small beak upfront. In addition, the motorcycle features round fenders, teardrop fuel tank and tiger lamps which are sourced directly from the Classic 350. Though there are a few elements such as the dual exhaust pipes, broader rear fender and larger fuel tank capacity that distinguish it from the 350cc motorcycle.
Royal Enfield is offering several advanced features with the Classic 650 in the form of a semi-digital instrument cluster with Tripper navigation, all-LED lighting, dual-channel ABS, USB charging socket and adjustable levers. The instrument console is a direct lift-off from the Classic 350. The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel – identical to the Classic 350.
The Classic 650 is the heaviest motorcycle in Royal Enfield’s portfolio with weight of 243 kg. The suspension duties are performed by 43mm telescopic forks from Showa at front which have been specifically designed for this motorcycle. The rear springs have been carried over from the Shotgun 650, albeit with different damping abilities. The motorcycle boasts of disc brakes at front as well as rear.
Mechanically, the Classic 650 is powered by the same 648cc parallel-twin petrol engine which belts out top power of 46.3 bhp and peak torque of 52.3 Nm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed transmission. Royal Enfield is offering the Classic 650 as a single-seat motorcycle. However, the pillion seat can be easily mounted by the rider akin to the Shotgun 650. It can be done by installing the bolt-on sub-frame. Royal Enfield Classic 650 price could start from Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
