300cc Mojo Launching by March; Expect Some Surprises!

Mahindra’s 300 cc motorcycle, Mojo, was showcased to its dealers in the first week of August along with the then-upcoming Centuro Rockstar. The commuter was launched recently, and it had looked like the Mojo would be finally getting into the market by Diwali at least. That is not going to happen though, as one of the senior company officials have confirmed this to us during our interaction at Gusto’s media ride in Jodhpur.

The idea is to let the Gusto settle in the market and once that is accomplished, all the focus will shift to Mojo. If Mahindra is not able to launch it within this year, the company does plan its foray within this financial year which means by March 2015 we should have Mojo as another option in the 200-300cc segment.

Apart from that, there is also a hint of ‘expect some surprises’ coming in from the company. If these surprises are not related to the engine, Mojo should be producing around 26PS of power and 25Nm of torque from its 292cc liquid cooled engine.

A six-speed gearbox will send that power to the Pirelli Sport Demon tyre at the rear (the front will also be a Pirelli), and chunky Upside Down forks should help keep the bike stable at three digit speeds, speaking of which it can probably do around or over 150 km/h… And those nice Y-spoke black alloy wheels will come with disc brakes to keep things in check.

The naked will get rear view mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators and the taillight will also consist of LEDs. Moreover, while the speed and other important info will be displayed digitally, an analogue tachometer will come as a breath of fresh air for enthusiasts. Pricing, as always, would be crucial here and if Mahindra keeps it just below the cheapest CBR 250R (initially at least), it might have a winner on its hands.
