Cleveland Ace price reduction comes at a time when the brand has to face newer competition in the form of Jawa. Will it pay off…?
Few months back, Cleveland Cyclewerks – a US based brand – entered India and announced the launch of two motorcycles – Ace and Misfit. With mediocre specs and features, the bigger concern with them is the pricing of these motorcycles.
Ace Deluxe, which was the variant which was introduced, was priced at Rs 2.23 Lakh whereas Misfit costs Rs 2.49 Lakh – both prices ex-showroom Delhi. So, essentially that is a lot of money and when we asked CCW about how many bookings have they amassed so far, the answer was 30 plus.
So, as it appears, Cleveland has not been able to attract buyers’ interests towards their motorcycles which is what they now plan to plug.
Cleveland Ace Price
In a latest word received from the brand, CCW is offering a big price drop on the Ace which is now down to Rs 1.85 Lakh, well under the 2 Lakh psychological price barrier.
So, Cleveland has knocked Rs 38,000 off the ex-showroom price of the motorcycle, however, this is only limited to the first 200 bikers who book their Aces. It will be interesting to see how many days will it take for buyers to gobble up 200 motorcycles. We believe they will have to continue with this offer even post this first consignment to ensure they get the much needed initial traction.
The problem with Cleveland at the moment is that retro classic motorcycles from Royal Enfield, the new entrant Jawa, etc are priced much lower and moreover, they are not a very renowned brand in this part of the world so that they can command/justify a hefty premium.
