CFMoto 250SR launch in India is not possible at this point – we tell you the reason in this story. But it appears to be an impressive bike…
After multiple spyshots and sneaks, CFMoto has officially unveiled its 250SR (SR stands for ‘Sport Racing’) with details uploaded on its global website. The motorcycle looks lovely, packs in good ammunition and should be a good prospect IF launched in India.
250SR is powered by a 249.2cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine which appears to be a derivative of the company’s 300cc motor which powers the 300NK (priced at 2.29 Lakh ex-showroom here). It is good for 20.5 kw (~27.9 PS) of peak power at 9750 rpm and 22 Nm of max torque at 7500 rpm.
These numbers are better than Suzuki Gixxer SF 250’s 26.5 PS (Gixxer churns slightly higher torque of 22.6 Nm though) as well as Yamaha Fazer 25’s 20.9 PS and 20 Nm. However, KTM’s RC250 (which is still not on sale in India) triumphs both of them with 30 PS and 24 Nm.
The 250SR is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and has a claimed top speed of 128 kmph. It comes with slipper clutch as standard, has a fuel capacity of 12 liters and weighs 165 kilos.
In terms of features it sports a coloured TFT display with two interfaces – rain and sport. The screen auto-adjusts to the ambient light and it comes with smartphone connectivity. For added sportiness, the quarter liter sports 37 mm upside down front forks, aggressive LED headlamps and LED tail lamps.

CFMoto 250SR Launch in India Possible?
However, there is one issue – the 250SR is a Euro 4 compliant model as of now which means it can not be sold in India till it gains Euro 5 (which is roughly equal to India’s BS6) emission compliance. But considering that the 300cc version of this engine is already sold in India and CFMoto should be updating it to BS6, this 250cc motor of the 250SR is, then, expected to get the upcoming compliance as well.
