Bigger Hyosung GT300R & New GT650R Coming Around June: DSK [Exclusive]

After exclusively revealing the Indian launch confirmation along with an approximate time frame of two of the most awaited Benellis (TRK502 & Tornado 302), we shift our attention to DSK’s other partner – Hyosung!

Hyosung showcased at EICMA some of their best motorcycles – both upgraded as well as all-new. From the GT brand they had on display, for the first time, the bigger GT300R as well as the updated GT650R. We asked Shirish Kulkarni, the man behind bringing the (Benellis and) Hyosungs to India about their Indian plans and here is what he said…

“The GTs should come in May June-ish roughly… They are good looking. At EICMA they (Hyosung) put up all of them. They have four new products coming in and all four of them were at EICMA. But they (GTs) are still not production ready, they are still at least six months away.”

So, for the first time there comes an official confirmation of both the GTs – GT300R and the new GT650R, coming to us and as early as next year at an expected time frame of June or thereafter.

The smaller GT300R is set to replace the current GT250R. It sports a 275cc 75 degree V twin mill producing 28 PS of maximum power at 10,500 rpm and 23.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm (up from 22.07 Nm). It sports a dual channel ABS as standard (not present on the current GT250R) and a more aggressive looking head lamp.

The refreshed GT650R gets a 90 degree V-twin 647 cc mill producing 74.4 PS of power and 54.4 Nm of torque (drops from 60.9 Nm). This though is more aerodynamic than the outgoing version and is set to be lighter as well. The fuel tank capacity sadly comes down by 2 litre to 15 litres overall.
