Bajaj’s NOT Done Yet; To Challenge Hero with a ‘Dramatic’ sub-125cc Bike

Bajaj’s new 125cc bike will come with AI and should be an interesting product as per the company’s revelation. Will it be a Pulsar or something else…?

100-125cc is undenyingly the largest segment in India and almost every maker – who had big volume targets for our market – tried its hand here. But most of them have now moved out – some out of frustration – and some gave up! It is Hero MotoCorp that has a massive lead here and the other prominent makers in this space are Bajaj, TVS and Honda. Majors like Suzuki, Yamaha, after toiling hard – simply gave up.

Every now and then Bajaj comes up with different ideas to challenge Hero and this time it says it plans to disrupt the segment with a dramatic AI based product. AI here does NOT stand for Artificial Intelligence, instead it is AFFORDABLE INSPIRATION. According to an online report, Bajaj reveals that it is working on this product that will make it ‘irresistible’ for customers to open their wallets.

Bajajs new 125cc bike
Bajaj recently introduced the new-generation Pulsar N160 in the market…

No more details are known apart from the fact that this will be a sub 125cc motorcycle. Bajaj offers various motorcycles under the CT and Platina monikers in this segment in India at the moment. Interestingly, the Pune based maker took a major plunge few years back and took the very important Pulsar brand down to the 125cc segment (after almost exhausting other options). And that worked for the company.

UPDATE – Bajaj-Triumph Motorcycle Launch Likely Next Year

The term ‘Affordable Inspiration’ hints that the model will not simply be a low cost offering and instead – will be a loaded product at really good prices – as compared to the segment standards. It also suggests that it may come under an aspirational brand – like Pulsar. The introduction has been planned in the Financial Year 2023-24 and before that we should have a good chunk of spy pics to understand the new idea…

What do you think – what different genre/features can Bajaj try with its new product?
