Bajaj is at present one of the only motorcycle manufacturer in the country which has been having a gala time in almost all the segments they play in. Okay, the 125s may be a bit of a loose end but the rest of the line-up has kept the cash registers on a roll. To build on this dream run which was re-started back in August 2014 with the new Discover 150s, the company is all set to bring in new products.
As per a report in Business Standard, the Pune based manufacturer is set to bring out two new motorcycles based on the Pulsar and Platina brand name. These bikes are set to be launched between the months of July to September 2016. So what are these bikes then?
Here’s what Mr S Ravikumar, President, Business Development and Assurance, Bajaj Auto, had to say:
“We are planning to launch an upgrade for the Platina (entry-level model) and a totally new Pulsar at the top-end in the next quarter.”
They also plan to invest Rs 575 crores this financial year most of which will be used for launching new products. So what’s this new Pulsar that is being talked about? The flagship Pulsar is right now the RS 200 and based on the recent plethora of spy shots we believe the new top end bike is going to be none other than the Pulsar CS 400.
Bajaj plans to enter the big league soon. Carrying the mill from the KTM 390s, the CS 400 will be the fastest and the most expensive Pulsar yet. We expect the bike to hit the streets just before the festive season which puts bang in the time frame mentioned. In terms of pricing, we expect it to revolve around Rs 1.6 lakhs to Rs 1.8 lakhs.
The Platina though might just entail a few sticker adjustments and feature additions. Something which is done quite often in this high volume segment even by the big players.
