Bajaj Auto has continued their dominance in the sports segment (as they like to call it as) and has been a leader by a fairly big margin. Their Pulsars are doing a fantastic job despite the oncoming of the strong competition from all corners. The Pune based manufacturer will take the benchmarks higher with the launch of their new 400ccs which were showcased in two forms – the 400SS and 400CS, at the last Auto Expo in Delhi and will be their new flagships!
Here’s what Rajiv Bajaj had to say when he was asked about the bikes at the launch event of Pulsar AS200…
“We would like to see the 400 to debut as power cruiser as we had shown in the last Auto Expo… also stated to be launched some point in this financial year. So when that happens the Pulsar 400 would be the next flagship of the Pulsar brand.”
For the starters, this financial year means we can expect the product anytime between now and the end of March 2016.
Also another interesting point to note here is that Mr Bajaj mentioned that the Pulsar 400 will debut as a power cruiser. So is Bajaj planning to launch the Pulsar 400 CS (which stands for Cruiser Sports) before the RS 400/400SS? Now, that’s an interesting little food for thought…
The new 400cc cruiser will give a lot of boost to Bajaj in the leisure riding segment in which they have not really brought anything new for a long time. Yes, they do have a new Avenger coming, but the 400 CS will be a different ballgame altogether!

The Pulsar 400 will be powered by the same 373cc engine which does duty on the KTM Duke 390 and RC 390. The output will most probably be toned down a bit to focus on fuel efficiency and practicality but anything between 35-40PS, we will take that with both our hands open, kneeling down!
