Bajaj Launches New Discover 125T at Rs 52,500; Details & Pics

A general expression of shock and surprise was painted on the majority of the faces when Bajaj had announced a few months back that about six Discovers were in the launch pipeline. While the aam junta went over the top, Rajiv Bajaj remained stoic and impassive.

The onslaught has begun. Interestingly, Bajaj has launched the Discover 125T without much ado. No Press-Releases have found their way into our mailbox as of yet. So much for confidence…..

We stumbled upon this piece regarding the Discover 125T launch while scrolling down the Business Standard page. According to them, the unveiling took place in Chennai yesterday. Present at the occasion was Mr. Aswin Jaikanth, General Manager (South) of Bajaj Auto. Quite a stark contrast to the Mahindra Centuro launch where Mr. Anand Mahindra had made his presence felt.

“Nevertheless, the Discover 125T has been launched.” – Probably this is what Bajaj wants to convey.

Bajaj Discover 125T Details:

The Discover 125T looks to carry forward the same slapped-together parts and panels from its siblings, the Discover 100T and the Discover 125ST. It is positioned as a bridge between the above mentioned sibling models, to offer the best concoction of comfort, zest as well as frugality.

Discover 125T is powered by a single cylinder 124.6cc engine that churns out 12.5PS of power output and 10.8Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and offers features such as a longer seat and nitrox rear shocks but comes devoid of the monoshocks of the Discover 125ST.

Despite the lesser power, Discover 125T does a top whack of 105 kph. 0-60 sprint time is expected to be slightly lesser than Discover 125ST though.

Bajaj Discover 125T Price (Ex-Showroom Delhi)

  • Discover 125T Disc: Rs 55,500
  • Discover 125T Drum: Rs 52,500

The 125 cc segment has been witnessing some heated skirmishes in the recent past. Bajaj is the player that is looking to stir up the “Honda Shine’s” nest, and in the process cause some collateral damage to others like the Hero Glamour and TVS Phoenix.

But we are sure this intermingling of the alphabets will confuse the end buyer. That, we understand must be known to Bajaj. They must be hoping to keep a prospect who enters the showroom with either of the plethora of Discovers available on sale.

So, its one down, 5 more to go!
