Bajaj Chetak price has not been revealed by the company. In this story we list whatever we can grasp from today’s event…
Bajaj admitted that it was hesitant to go all out into the electric spectrum but a consistent push from the ministry and the Niti Aayog ensured that it became one of the first prominent auto maker to venture in this space.
Bajaj’s electric brand is called as Urbanite and it will spawn various models across different segments. The first product is an electric scooter and Bajaj is making it special by calling it Chetak – an immensely popular nameplate of the yesteryears which once commanded a waiting period of a few years! Return of Chetak also marks Bajaj’s comeback into scooters after almost a decade and half!
Surprisingly, Bajaj did not reveal a lot of details of Chetak and kept this more of a first-glimpse kind of an event. In terms of design, Chetak adorns a rounded retro styling which looks beautiful. It comes with a 4 KW lithium-ion battery and the pack itself is IP-67 rated.
Bajaj did not talk about the performance or the range of Chetak but we know it comes with two riding modes – Eco and Sport. There appears to be no fast charging support which means the battery is expected to take around 5-6 hours of continuous plug-in.
The instrument cluster is a connected unit but not as exhaustive and smart as Ather’s. There are LEDs all around and the side blinkers have a ‘dynamic’ effect like a few luxury cars. The scooter runs on 12 inch tyres – both front and rear and they are also equipped with discs each.
Bajaj Chetak Price?
There has been no price announcement but Bajaj has hinted that it will be a ‘premium’ product. Based on the actual specs, Chetak could cost anything between Rs 1.0-1.30 Lakh. We expect to know about the exact prices and the specs in the coming few weeks/months. As far as we can count, there will be at least five colours on offer – blue, cream, grey, red and golden.
