As we told you, Bajaj conducted a media event yesterday which was nothing but the regional launch of the new Pulsar RS200, AS200 and AS150. We attended the event and apart from the Pune pricing and the old stuff, they did not reveal much about their upcoming products.
Bajaj said that it took them 2.5 years to make the RS200 which means the project was started just after or around the launch of Pulsar 200NS in 2012, the first of the new-generation Pulsars. The RS200 is essentially based on the same platform of the naked but gets fuel injection, ABS, full fairing and different design in addition.
Since its official launch last month on 26th March, Pulsar RS200 has garnered 3500 bookings and this is the data only from 17 Indian cities where Bajaj has shipped the bike till now. This figure is expected to remain high once the company starts dispatching the bike to more cities in the country. They maintained that they target sales of about 2500 Pulsar RS200s every month.
Apart from this, they also informed that they have not started with exports of any of the new Pulsars yet. Bajaj manufactures the Pulsar RS200 on the same existing assembly lines and there are no dedicated lines for the flagship.
