Production Aprilia GPR250 Unveiled; Launch in July

Aprilia GPR250 launch and price reveal will take place after about one and half year of its first unveil in China. It looks smashing for a quarter liter model…

After an official unveil earlier in 2019, Aprilia has showcased the production version of its GPR250 at the Beijing Motor Show in China. Aprilia operates in partnership with Chinese firm Zongshen. It already sells the smaller sibling high-spec GPR150 in that market. It is a costly sports motorcycle for its segment and hence sales are not very high.

But with a higher capacity engine of the GPR250 and similar platform, Aprilia will be targeting a more aggressive price tag. The single cylinder model is powered by a 249.2cc, liquid cooled motor that is capable of producing 20.5 KW (27.9 PS) of peak power at 9000 rpm and 21.5 Nm of max torque at 7500 rpm.

The brilliant looker has got split headlamps upfront and scaled down styling of the RSV4. Key features include upside-down front forks, LED headlamps, clip-on handlebars, aluminum swingarm and lightweight frame. The quarter liter model weighs 158 kilos.

The small sibling GPR150 costs around 21,000 to 23,000 yuan (2.39 Lakh to 2.61 Lakh) and the 250 is expected to cost between 25,000 to 30,000 Yuan (2.84 Lakh to 3.42 Lakh).

While we have no details of the terms between Zongshen and Aprilia, but as a prospect this one looks great for our Indian market. Aprilia showcased the RS150 and Tuono 150 at the 2018 Auto Expo as concepts, however, few years later it said that it is working on bigger models for our domestic market. If it involves this GPR or is inspired/shared with it then expect fireworks in the ever growing 250cc segment.
