The latest spy images show the upcoming classic motorcycle in production-ready form and it could go on sale sooner than expected
Triumph Bonneville 400 is barely a few weeks away from its highly-anticipated launch in the Indian market. It has been spied on camera yet again which hints that the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 350 rival is all set to hit the roads. The latest spy images show the motorcycle in production-ready form and it could go on sale sooner than expected. Triumph Bonneville 400 is going to be the seventh model in the British brand’s 400 portfolio after the Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400 XC, Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400.
The spy pics confirm the previous reports that the company has built a new chassis and swingarm for the upcoming classic motorcycle. The rear subframe too has gone under the hammer for accommodating a flat bench-type seat and elongated rear profile. Hence, the Bonneville 400 appears clearly bigger and more proportionate than the other motorcycles in the 400 portfolio of Triumph.
The fuel tank is bigger while the side panels are rounded and long. The front and rear fenders are quite thick and heavy for an enhanced road presence. The British brand has kept the old-school charm intact by introducing multiple chrome-studded elements in the form of peashooter exhaust, engine crankcase covers, and rear grab rails. The Bonneville 400 rides on wire-spoke wheels.
The overall styling of the new Triumph bike is inspired by the bigger Bonneville models of 900cc and 1200cc as the old-school charm of these iconic cruiser motorcycles is visible in the smallest Bonneville till date. The retro classic appearance is further accentuated by circular LED headlamp, belly pan, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and lower handlebars.
The Bonneville 400 uses traditional elements instead of premium cycle parts as we see in the Speed 400. It will boast of telescopic front forks in place of the Speed 400’s USD front suspension. At the rear, the bike will have twin-shock suspension. The stopping power will come from front and rear disc units, which will be assisted by a dual-channel ABS.
Interestingly, the Bonneville 400 houses a circular instrument cluster as compared to the semi-circular unit seen in the Speed 400. At the heart, the India-spec Bonneville 400 would be packed with the new 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which generates max power of 36.5 bhp and peak torque of 32 Nm with the Speed 400 and Scrambler models.
