Hero MotoCorp has several interesting motorcycles in the pipeline, from a 250 cc sportsbike and a Himalayan 450 rival to a possible new dual-sport
Hero MotoCorp has quietly been expanding its premium motorcycle portfolio, and the next few months could be particularly interesting. While the company continues to dominate the commuter motorcycle market, its newer products such as the Xtreme 250 R and Xpulse 210 show that Hero wants a larger slice of the enthusiast segment as well. Based on recent test mules, production-ready motorcycles, patents and Hero’s global product showcases, there are at least a few motorcycles worth watching for the Indian market. Some are almost ready, while others remain considerably more speculative.
1. Hero Karizma XMR 250
The most immediate launch appears to be the Karizma XMR 250. The motorcycle has already been showcased in India and has recently been spotted in production-ready form, including at what appears to be a Hero dealership. The XMR 250 uses the same 249 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Xtreme 250R, producing around 30 hp and 2 5Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox.
It gets USD front forks, a monoshock, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-channel ABS and a TFT instrument cluster. The motorcycle also gets sharper bodywork and winglets around the front fairing, giving it a more aggressive appearance than the existing XMR 210. It is expected to sit around the Rs 2 lakh-plus mark and could take on the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and KTM RC 200.
2. Hero Xpulse 421
The bigger and arguably more important launch is the Xpulse 421. Hero has been testing this motorcycle extensively, including in demanding terrain, and the latest prototypes suggest development is at an advanced stage. The production motorcycle could make its global debut at EICMA 2026, followed by an India launch around late 2026 or early 2027.
Unlike the Xpulse 210, the 421 is based on an all-new platform and a new liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Exact specifications haven’t been confirmed, but reports suggest a displacement of around 421 cc. The motorcycle is expected to feature a trellis frame, long-travel suspension, a large TFT display, riding modes and cruise control.
3. A New Hero Dual-Sport
Another interesting development is a new smaller-capacity dual-sport motorcycle for which Hero has filed a design patent in India. The motorcycle appears to use an air-cooled engine with a kick-starter and conventional components, suggesting a displacement somewhere around the 150-200 cc region.
Some design elements also resemble the old Hero Impulse. However, this is where speculation needs to be separated from fact. The patent does not confirm an Indian launch, and there is a possibility that the motorcycle is intended primarily for emerging export markets. If Hero does bring it here, though, it could sit below the Xpulse 210 and revive the company’s presence in the affordable dual-sport space.
4. Hero Splendor Electric
Hero is also expected to make a much bigger push into electric motorcycles. The Splendor Electric, reportedly being developed under Project AEDA, is expected around 2027 and could become Hero’s first mass-market electric motorcycle. Earlier reports have suggested that Hero is developing several electric two-wheelers, including electric motorcycles in different capacity-equivalent segments. Current industry listings point towards a possible 2027 introduction, although Hero has not officially announced the production motorcycle, specifications or pricing.
