Yamaha India has silently increased the price of its popular motorcycle, the R15, by around Rs 4,900 in our market
Yamaha India has hiked the price of the R15 V4 by up to Rs 4,900 in the country. The price hike has affected the entire variant line-up of the motorcycle as it now comes in a range of Rs 1.71-1.96 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The increase in price was necessiated due to rising input and logistical costs. Besides an upward revision in price range, Yamaha R15 V4 remains unchanged in terms of design, features and engine specs. It continues to rival Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, Hero Karizma XMR 210 and KTM RC 160.
Yamaha R15 is available in a total of six variants namely Standard, Dark Knight, Dual Tone, R15 M, MotoGP Edition, and Carbon Fibre at updated prices of Rs 1.71 lakh, Rs 1.72 lakh, Rs 1.76 lakh, Rs 1.86 lakh, Rs 1.88 lakh and Rs 1.96 lakh, respectively. All the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom. The motorcycle is placed in the mass-market segment and hence, this price hike is substantial.

Flaunting a R1 inspired design, Yamaha R15 comes loaded with premium features such as TFT instrument panel, traction control, dual-channel ABS, assist and slipper clutch, quick shifter on select variants and USD front forks. The bike sits on a deltabox frame while equipped with an aluminum swingarm. The rear suspension duties are helmed by link-type monoshock absorbers. The R15 tips the weighing scale at merely 141 kg.

At the heart, Yamaha R15 houses a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which comes with variable valve actuation (VVA) technology. It generates max power of 18.1 bhp and peak torque of 14.2 Nm while paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres. The R15 continues to be the most popular sportsbike in its segment in India with over 1 million units manufactured in the country.
In Sep 2025, Yamaha rolled out the globally famous Matte Pearl White paint shade for the R15 in India for the first time. In addition, the bike is offered in Metallic Grey, Metallic Black, Matte Black and Racing Blue colour schemes with updated graphics. Upfront, the bike boasts of a single bi-functional LED headlamp, LED position lights and sleek aerodynamic fairing.

A special mention goes to the broader 140 mm radial rear tyre, which ensures better stability on wet and slippery surfaces. The in-built Side Stand Engine cut-off switch also comes as a standard feature across the entire variant line-up.
