Ather EL01 is one of the highly-anticipated electric scooters launching later this year in the Indian market
Ather Energy, the pure electric two-wheeler brand, unveiled the all-new EL platform at the Annual Community Day in Aug 2025. It also showcased the prototype of a low-cost electric scooter based on this platform, which was christened as EL01. The company had also stated on record that Ather EL platform will spawn several new models of various body types which will include a maxi-scooter, family scooter and high-performance scooter. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about Ather EL01, which is the first model based on the new platform.
Ather EL01 Launch Date in India
Ather EL01 is expected to launch around July-August 2026 in the Indian market. Though the exact launch timeline is not revealed as of now, but in all likelihood, Ather will present the production-ready version of the EL01 electric scooter at its Annual Community Day, which is held in Aug 2026. It will be locally developed at the company’s new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
Ather EL01 Price in India
Despite being a low-cost mass-market electric scooter, the EL01 will not be priced below Rs 1 lakh, confirmed Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy. He further went on to add that it will be priced lower than the current portfolio which has models like the Rizta and 450. For reference, Ather Rizta S, the brand’s entry-level e-scooter in India is sold at a price of Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). So, expect the EL01 to cost around 1.05-1.10 lakh.
Ather EL01 Design
In Dec 2025, Ather Energy filed the design patent for the EL01 electric scooter. As per the patent images, it will ride on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels. The EL01 will come with a swingarm-mounted electric motor. The patent images show that the brand has not made any changes to the model showcased at the Community Day, except the mirrors. The electric scooter will boast of a big LED DRL and LED tail-lamp cluster.
Ather EL01 Features
Ather EL01 will be the first company model to get the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS). In addition, it will be presented with an onboard charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller, for the convenience of the customers. Running on the latest AtherStack 7.0, Ather EL01 will come with voice commands as standard. The design patent hinted at the inclusion of a 7-inch instrument console with TFT display.
Ather EL01 Battery & Range
Presently, Ather Rizta is offered with a choice of two battery packs in the form of 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh for an IDC range of 123 km and 159 km, respectively. It is quite possible that both these batteries with identical range will also make their way in the EL01. The top speed could be around 70-80 kmph while the 0-40 kmph sprint time could be 4-5 secs.
