Yamaha to Launch New Bikes and Scooters in 2026-27 in India

Yamaha will strengthen its scooter and motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of multiple new models across various segments

Yamaha India announced last year that it will introduce 10 all-new models in 2026 in the country. The Japanese brand just didn’t stop here as it went on to state that 20+ facelifted versions of its existing scooter and motorcycle range will also be introduced this year in the Indian market. While the company has already launched its first-ever electric scooter in the form of the EC 06 in India, it is readying several more new products which will be rolled out one by one in the coming months. Lets talk about the upcoming Yamaha bikes and scooters in 2026-27 in India.

1. Yamaha R2

The R2 is likely to be launched by mid 2026 in the Indian market. It had trademarked the ‘YZF-R2’ moniker last year in the country, hinting at the potential launch of a 200cc fully-faired sports bike which will be positioned above the R15 in the brand’s portfolio in India. Internally codenamed as 070, Yamaha R2 will be locally produced at the Chennai factory while also exported to various global markets.

Yamaha Product Launch Plan for India 2025-26

Needless to state, Yamaha R2 will be more powerful than the R15 due to the 200cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It is expected to be priced around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom) to take on the likes of KTC RC 200 and Hero Karizma XMR 210 which come at price points of Rs 2.16 lakh and Rs 1.84 lakh, respectively. Yamaha R15 is retailed between Rs 1.71-1.76 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

2. Yamaha Aerox Electric

Yamaha Aerox E was unveiled alongside the EC 06 in Nov 2025 in India. The high-performance electric scooter will be launched in the next few months in the domestic market to rival Ola S1 Pro Sport which is sold at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Aerox E price is likely to be in the same ballpark as it is a premium and feature-rich model with superior performance. Equipped with two detachable batteries of 3 kWh, it returns a range of 106 km on a full charge.

Adorning Yamaha’s “Heart-Shaking Speedster” design philosophy, the Aerox Electric gets a plethora of modern styling elements in the form of ‘X’ Centre Motif, Dual-LED Class-D headlights, LED flashers and a 3D-effect LED taillight. The features onboard include Smart key system, Reverse mode, Boost mode, 5-inch coloured TFT screen, Turn-by-turn navigation, Single-channel ABS, and Multiple ride modes (Eco, Standard, and Power).

3. Yamaha NMax 155

We have learnt through reliable sources that the NMax 155 will be launched in India either in the second half of 2026 or early 2027. It will be the brand’s second maxi-styled high-performance scooter in India after the Aerox. Yamaha NMax 155 boasts of multiple striking features such as Ride Modes, Dual-channel ABS, 4.2-inch TFT display, Turn-by-turn Navigation, and all-LED lighting.
