Upcoming Yamaha Bikes and Scooters This Year in India

Yamaha will expand its motorcycle portfolio and at the same time, it is likely to introduce a couple of electric scooters in the country

Yamaha had announced in Nov 2025 that it plans to roll out 10 all-new models by the end of 2026 in India. The XSR155 was launched last year alongside the FZ-Rave Edition to further expand the brand’s motorcycle line-up. The Japanese two-wheeler brand will introduce multiple new models in the Indian market in the electric scooter segment while also launching a sportsbike later this year in our market. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the upcoming Yamaha bikes and scooters launching this year in India.

1. Yamaha EC 06

Yamaha EC 06, based on River Indie, was unveiled in Nov 2025 in the country. It will be the brand’s first-ever electric scooter in the Indian market, slated to launch in the coming months as the local production has already commenced at River’s factory in Hoskote, Karnataka. Based on the same platform as the Indie, it comes with different styling and features.

The EC 06 has an underseat storage area of 24.5 litres, which is significantly smaller than the 43 litre boot capacity of River Indie. It shares the 4 kWh battery pack with the Indie which returns a range of 160 km on a full charge. The top speed is rated at 90 kmph. However, it takes nearly 9 hours for a full charge from scratch, which is the longest in its segment. A few notable features onboard the e-scooter are LED headlamp and tail lamp, front and rear disc brake, and coloured LCD display.

2. Yamaha R2

The R2 moniker was trademarked at the beginning of this year in the Indian market. Now, we have come to know that it will officially go on sale by mid 2026 in India. Yamaha R2 will be sold alongside the R15 in the country while developed locally at the brand’s factory in Chennai. Internally codenamed as 070, the fully-faired bike will be powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled petrol engine.
