New Bajaj Chetak India Launch on Jan 14, 2026

The new-gen Bajaj Chetak will come with multiple advancements in terms of design, features and cycle parts over the current model

Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of new Chetak electric scooter on Jan 14, 2026 in the Indian market. The company has shared a ‘Block Your Date’ invite with the rear profile of the e-scooter and a caption which reads, “Get Ready to Vibe”. The new-gen Chetak was spied in Oct 2025 with heavy camouflage. It will be the Pune-based auto brand’s first big launch of 2026 as it gears up to introduce many more new models later this year, including the new-gen Pulsars and an all-new electric commuter motorcycle.

First things first, the new-gen Bajaj Chetak gets a completely new single-piece LED tail-lamp cluster. It gets integrated turn indicators and brake light while we expect Bajaj to roll out new colour options. Other notable visual updates at the rear include a rear tyre hugger, repositioned number plate holder and absence of charging port, which might have been moved towards the front apron.

The spy pics suggested that side panels have also been reworked to give the e-scooter a fresh design. The front profile is retained with only a handful of updates which includes repositioning of turn indicators from apron to handlebar and Chetak lettering in the headlamp. Several other elements such as the LED headlamp, rear grab rail and seat have been carried over from the ongoing model.

The e-scooter captured on the camera missed out on several modern features such as the single-sided front suspension, TFT instrument cluster and keyless entry. Instead, the spy images show a LCD screen which is surprisingly not round in shape but rectangular. Though, we can see the telescopic front forks in the images. Hence, it is safe to assume that the spied unit was a mid-spec variant of the upcoming Bajaj Chetak.

The most prominent mechanical updates in the new electric scooter will be in the form of a front disc brake and hub mounted electric motor. The traditional swingarm-mounted motor seen in the current-gen models has gone for a toss in favour of the wheel hub-mounted motor to extract direct power. The new-gen Chetak is likely to come with advanced safety features.

Bajaj is expected to offer the new Chetak EV with the same 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery packs. Though the maximum range could be extended by a few km, nothing is confirmed as of now. Stay tuned to this space for more updates as we inch closer to the launch.
