The Vietnamese EV brand will enter the electric scooter segment in India with the launch of two new models by mid of 2026
Vinfast, the Vietnam-based EV brand, will launch electric scooters in the Indian market by mid 2026. It started sales operations earlier this year with two electric SUVs namely VF6 and VF7. The company retails six e-scooters including Evo, Feliz, Klara and Vero, in multiple South Asian markets. Hence, it is quite likely that the first two models for India are going to be among these. Presently, the electric two-wheeler industry in India is dominated by legacy players such as TVS, Bajaj and Hero while EV-only startups such as Ola Electric and Ather Energy also have a decent market share.
“We believe that the Indian market has huge potential for electric two-wheelers. We have a plan to launch two-wheelers in India in 2026,” said Pham Sanh Chau, Chief Executive Officer, VinFast Asia. The Vietnamese brand will introduce two electric scooters to start its two-wheeler retail business in the second quarter of the financial year 2026.
Chau further stated that Vinfast is currently working with its team and channel partners in India to understand the complexities of the two-wheeler market. It is conducting a feasibility study in the Indian market as of now. “We are in the process of collecting inputs and feedback to launch our two-wheelers in India,” said Chau in an interaction with AutoCar.

Vinfast has 26 dealer outlets across different cities in the Indian market. It started selling electric cars in Sep 2025 with two SUV models namely VF 6 and VF 7. Chau revealed that multiple dealerships have shown a keen interest in selling Vinfast electric scooters. ”Many of the current dealers have expressed their interest in becoming a dealer for two-wheelers,” he said.
Vinfast has announced to invest $2 billion (around Rs 16,000 crore) in India. It has already invested $500 million in the construction of its first production facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This factory has an annual capacity of rolling out 50,000 electric cars, which can be further extended to 1.50 lakh units. However, the company didn’t divulge the investment details for the electric two-wheelers.

Though Vinfast has not confirmed it officially, it is certain that the electric scooters will be locally produced in India right from the beginning. Apart from e2w business, the company is also planning to foray into the commercial vehicle segment with the introduction of electric buses in the country. It is also likely to happen next year as Vinfast is engaged in talks with State Transport undertakings of various Indian states for securing orders.
