Upcoming Bajaj Electric Motorcycle Confirmed – All You Need to Know

The upcoming Bajaj electric motorcycle will be a daily-use commuter model and it could debut by the end of 2026 in the Indian market

Bajaj Auto recently confirmed the development of several new models in the coming 6-8 months in the domestic market, including the next-gen Chetak EV, 3 Pulsar models and an all-new ICE sub-brand. Now, it has been learnt that the Pune-based two-wheeler brand is also working on its first electric motorcycle, which is likely to be a daily-use commuter model. Further, we could also see a few performance-oriented electric motorcycles from Bajaj in the years to come. Just so you know, Bajaj Auto is the only brand to retail a CNG-powered bike in India in the form of the Freedom 125.

In the recently held earnings call, Bajaj Auto confirmed that it is working on an all-electric motorcycle platform which is expected to spawn multiple models, ranging from commuter bikes to high-performance motorcycles. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director – Bajaj Auto, called it a “vigorous R&D push.” Currently, legacy brands such as Bajaj, TVS and Hero retail electric scooters but do not have presence in the e-motorcycle segment.

Sharma further elaborated: ““We are working across the spectrum, from entry-level motorcycles to premium, high-performance applications, both for the domestic and global markets.” Bajaj is renowned globally for rolling out some of the most cost-effective models in the entry-level commuter motorcycle segment and with the experience gained with the affordable Chetak EV, we can expect the upcoming Bajaj electric motorcycle to cater to a wide range of buyers.

In the past few months, several mainstream two-wheeler brands have shown a keen interest in the electric motorcycle segment. Apart from Bajaj, Honda recently presented its first all-electric bike in the form of WN7 at the EICMA 2025 with a range of 140 km on a single charge. However, it is still not confirmed whether it will be introduced in the Indian market or not.

In addition, Hero MotoCorp also presented multiple electric motorcycles in concept form at the EICMA 2025. The company showcased the Vida Project VxZ and Vida Ubex concept last week in Milan, Italy. The EV-only brand Ather Energy has also revealed its intentions of foraying into the e-motorcycle segment by the end of next year. We also expect TVS to enter the fray and launch an all-electric bike in future.

Presently, the electric motorcycle segment is in the nascent stages and only a handful of models are available such Ola Roadster X, Revolt RV400, Oben Rorr EZ Sigma, and Matter Aera. Hence, as we can see, there are limited choices for the customers in this segment and hence more and more brands are leveraging their engineering prowess to enter this segment, including Bajaj Auto.
