The Thruxton 400 cafe racer is the most powerful Triumph motorcycle in its 400 portfolio in the Indian market.

Triumph India has launched the Thruxton 400 at a sticker price of Rs 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom) in the domestic market. The British brand states that the cafe racer will also go on sale in several global markets by the end of this year. The company has revived the legendary ‘Thruxton’ nameplate from the era of 1960s. Triumph Thruxton 400 cafe racer will be positioned between the Scrambler 400X and Scrambler 400 XC in the brand’s portfolio in India. It is the fifth 400 model from Triumph in the Indian market.

Flaunting the signature Triumph silhouette, it gets several cafe racer elements in the form of clip-on handlebars, Monza-style fuel cap, bar-end mirrors, sculpted tank, and bullet seat cowl in body colour. The design is inspired by bigger Triumph bikes, predominantly the Speed Triple 1200 RR. The cafe racer also gets a compact round LED headlamp, shortened rear mudguard and number plate hanger. It borrows the upswept sports exhaust from the Speed 400.

Triumph Thruxton 400 is available in four dual-tone colour schemes namely Lava Red Gloss + Aluminum Silver, Pearl Metallic White + Storm Grey, Metallic Racing Yellow + Aluminum Silver and Phantom Black + Aluminum Silver. To ensure a cafe racer riding stance, the clip-on handlebars are 40mm narrower and positioned 246mm lower as compared to the Speed 400. Further, the rear-set footpegs are placed 86mm further back and 27mm higher.

The suspension duties are helmed by USD front forks and preload-adjustable mono-shock absorbers at the rear. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels with Apollo Alpha H1 tyres, it boasts of disc brakes at front as well as rear. The cafe-racer sources the semi-digital instrument cluster from the Speed 400 while other notable features include design, USB-C charging port, switchable traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, torque assist clutch and ABS.

Though powered by the same 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, it has max power of 41.4 bhp at 9000 rpm and peak torque of 37.5 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine has been retuned to achieve higher power while adding a new camshaft. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Triumph Thruxton 400 is presented with a best-in-class service interval of 16,000 km. It has been offered with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard. The buyers can personalise the cafe racer motorcycle with a host of genuine Triumph accessories such as bullet LED indicators, tank pad, sump guard, engine guard and premium quilted seat.
